prepping your “canvas”

Think of your face as your canvas… your finest piece of work… and your mineral makeup as premium tools and pigments which you use to “paint with”.

No use using fine tools on a lousy quality canvas, right?

That’s why we’ve got some suggestions for you to get your skin in tip-top shape and primed and ready for your minerals!

Minerals look best on skin that is as smooth, poreless and line-less as possible. However, if your skin isn’t perfect, minerals also do a wonderful job of helping to camoflauge such imperfections. However, it is your job to keep your skin in tip-top shape.

Step #1. Cleansing!

Microdermabrasion is a popular method. Whether you choose to get it done in a salon or you use a home treatment, this deep cleanses the skin and pores, helps to reduce the apperance of fine lines and increases cellular turnover. Also does a wonderful job of exfoliating and getting rid of flaky skin that can make mineral foundation look poor.

The Clarisonic Skin Brush (and other variations of it) has become exceedingly popular. This daily use brush is reported to deep clean, reduce pore size, reduce appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, increase cellular turnover, exfoliate and help skin be able to absorb skincare products more effectively.

Gently Exfoliating Cleansers. Stay away from ones with rough edges and large particle sizes (such as apricot seeds). Go for ones with beads of uniform size that are smooth and won’t scrape the skin. Some may be called “Microdermabrasion Cleansers”.

Step #2 Treatments!

Vitamin C- Daily Vitamin C serum is naturally exfoliating because is increases cellular turnover, helps keep the skin firm and smooth, reduces fine lines and can also help to fade small spots from sun damage.

Glycolic Acid Serum- A gentle peel, you’ll see a reduction in fine lines and wrinkles, fading of age spots and increase in overall skin smoothness and texture

Weekly Masks (Vitamin C/Acid Peels) These give you a higher dose than the daily treatments.

Step 3 Foundation Primers

Got some minor imperfections you haven’t ironed out yet? A foundation primer can handle those little issues for you. A tiny dab will do you… Spread evenly over your face and then apply your foundation. Or, you can blend your foundation in with the primer and apply it all at once.

With a little work, your skin can turn around and start showing a fresh new side that you didn’t think was possible. It just takes a little TLC. Tired skin needs to be given a little nudge and there’s lots of great products out there that can help you do that!
