April’s COTM is “Leshy”, and introducing… the Menagerie mini collection, a new monthly feature

April’s COTM is… LESHY!

The Leshy is a male woodland spirit in Slavic mythology who protects wild animals and forests. A Leshy usually appears as a tall man, but he is able to change his size from that of a blade of grass to a very tall tree. He has hair and a beard of living grass and vines, and is sometimes depicted with a tail, hooves, and horns. He has pale white skin that contrasts with his bright green eyes. A Leshy has a close bond with the gray wolf, and is often seen in the company of bears as well. He is the Forest Lord and carries a club to express that he is the master of wood. He has blue blood, which gives his cheeks a blue tinge. Legend describes him as having a red scarf and his left shoe on his right foot. He also is known to have no shadow. (source: Wikipedia)

This shade was suggested by Kelly Kaye Accettola-  final version very closely matched her color description, which was “Tree bark brown, with dark brown, red and green sparkles like the inside of a dark cave laden with different gemstones, finished off with a golden duochrome to encapsulate the last of the light one would see as they’re being dragged inside the Leshy’s cave dwelling.”

Color Description: tree bark brown with a strong golden duochrome and sparkles of ruby, sapphire and emerald. Under artificial lighting, this color leans more greenish gold, while under sunlight, it’s more brownish (and on bare skin it’s more brownish too!). It’s kind of shifty, like the Leshy himself. Shown swatched over NYX cream eyeshadow base in skintone, photographed under a daylight lamp.

This shade is part of the Leshy Menagerie. The Menagerie is a new Aromaleigh project, where I’ll be formulating other shades and products to go with each month’s mythical creature. The Leshy Menagerie features two additional eyeshadow colors (“Trickster” and “Changeling”, and a blue blush (“Blueblood” – to match the Leshy’s blue blood and blue-tinged skin). This monthly feature will allow me to test out new shades, formulas and finishes, as well as meet the needs of customers who would like more daring and colorful shades.
